First Podkarpackie Real Estate Forum

On January 20, 2010 a seminar devoted to the topic of the real estate market was held in the Secession Hall at the Rzeszow City Administration Office.

The seminar was officially opened by Marek Ustrobiński – Vice-President of the City of Rzeszow and Prof. Tadeusz Pomianek, the President of UITM.

The First Podkarpackie Real Estate Forum was devoted to three key aspects of this market. The first was the trends, needs and potential of the Rzeszow housing market. The second aspect was investements and the future of the commercial real estate market in Rzeszow. The third topic which was discussed were issues related to the real estate business itself. Plans, promotion and financing in this area were discussed.

Maciej Piotrowski and Tomasz Soliński from the Institute of Economics at UITM introduced a study showing the trends of growth in Rzeszow. The conclusions included for example, the idea that the most attractive areas are Boguchwała, Budziwój and Matysówka. Due to the expansion of city limits, developers have gained access to new and attractive areas for investment. According to prognosis, the most successful of these will be Drabinianka and Staroniwa. Forum speakers also indicated that new investments must be accompanied by promotion. In order for this to be effective, an internet page no longer suffices or a few billboards. It is necessary to engage in unusual promotion activities, such as sponsoring or cooperation with research centers.

Robert Pierzchała, director of marketing at Archeton, introduced a study according to which the Podkarpackie is among the leaders in provinces where the highest number of housing permits are granted.

During the forum the issue of how the city can best take advantage of EU funds came up several times. The city is about to experience an unprecedented period of development. It will soon find itself at the crossroads of transport routes across Europe: the A4 expressway and the express road S19 Via Baltica.

Much time was devoted to the presentation of new plans for investment in Rzeszow and its environs. Among others plans for a new retail-entertainment-conference center were shown which will be built in the space of the former Hotel Rzeszow. Participants also viewed the designs for a new Ikea which will build a new retail center on a 60-are area in nearby Świlczy. Unofficially it was also stated that PKP has given preliminary agreement to the building of a train station at this new complex.
Plans for an above-ground tram in Rzeszow to be opened in 2015 were also presented. This will be aerial system of city transport. The project will cost 13 million euro.

Rzeszow residents will also soon enjoy a fully covered stadium with a football field and a motocross track. In the Staromieście neighborhood the long-awaited Bella Dolina will soon open.

The Forum finished with much lively discusssion.

The Organizers of the First Podkarpackie Real Estate Forum included the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszow.
